Membership Applications will be competed online following the Fall Meeting each season, normally in October. A late fee of $50 will be applied to all membership applications received after January 1st of the new year. Applications will be accepted until February 1st, after which time, all participants wishing to attend an AIA event will pay non-members contest fees and will not be elligble to compete at AIA Circuit Championships.

Membership is offered annually. All contests offer both winterguard and percussion competitive classes unless specifically noted (typically when a WGI Regional is being held in our region).

• AIA is governed by its member units in good standing, and is geared toward the overall education, development and improvement of member units.
• There are two annual meetings of the AIA membership. A summer caucus meeting where rules changes are discussed and either rescinded or moved forward for a vote and a fall meeting where rules changes are voted upon and new officers are voted in.
• AIA member units make up its governing body; unit voices are heard. The result is an organization that is devoted to its members and their education and development.
• AIA has a supportive, friendly, enthusiastic atmosphere.
• AIA uses the WGI three-tier system; scores received at local shows are relevant to WGI contests.
• AIA schedules active WGI judges throughout the competitive season.

Any indoor unit (winter colorguard, concert or marching percussion) of a competitive nature is eligible for membership upon receipt of the membership application and dues. AIA offers the following classes of competition at all contests:
